silk embroidery on hand made felt

for now it's a 8 by 10 mural/wall hanging,
but i would like to eventually make this into the flap on a felted purse...
oh i'm so excited. a new medium for me to explore!

also made a pair of felt mitts with no seams!
gave it as a secrete santa present ^____^

This is beautiful work. I love the lines and intersections of the twigs.

Beautiful! I love the colours and composition, the embroidery is wonderful. When you made the felt did you felt the fibres onto a fabric, or use rougher wool tops? The felt has a really interesting texture to it.

the fabric is made from roving, which is unspun unwoven wool, it's just hair at that point, so the whole thing starts as a puffy mass of layers of the coloured roving. after it was all felted, embroidered, and beaded, i hand stitched a backing of fabric on it.

I kept stumbling about this wonderful piece, and the more often I saw it, the more I liked it! The felt is so great, beautiful colors, and the tiny flowers are so sweet! Gorgeous piece!

Thank you, It is now the outer flap of a felted side bag/purse. I later sewed small red beads onto all of the berries, it sparkles when it catches the light just right.
